Thursday, a federal judge in Chicago ordered agents to limit their use of tear gas and other anti-riot weaponry in the area after finding that immigration officers had misled about the type of local rallies against the Trump administration's immigration enforcement in the city.
U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis stated during a hearing that she did not believe government witnesses' claims of violence during the protests in the nation's third-largest city to be true. She cited multiple instances in which she claimed that recordings from body cameras and other devices directly contradicted the statements made by immigration officials.
